At Barnes Trial Group, we are proud to celebrate an exciting milestone for one of our own. After years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance, Matthew B. Rubin has officially passed the Florida Bar and earned the title of Esquire.
For our team, this accomplishment is especially meaningful because we have had the privilege of watching Matt’s journey firsthand. He joined Barnes Trial Group as a law clerk while attending law school and quickly became a valued member of the firm. Throughout his time with BTG, Matt consistently demonstrated a passion for learning, a strong work ethic, and a genuine commitment to helping others. Today, we are thrilled to welcome him into this next chapter as the newest attorney at Barnes Trial Group.
Matt’s path to becoming an attorney was shaped by a lifelong passion for advocacy and service. A third-generation personal injury attorney, he grew up surrounded by conversations about helping injured people and holding wrongdoers accountable. Inspired by watching his mother practice personal injury law, Matt developed an early fascination with the legal profession and the opportunity it provides to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Florida in 2023 before continuing on to Stetson University College of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor in 2026. During law school, Matt served as President of both the Jewish Law Student Association and the Innocence Initiative. His leadership and involvement were recognized with the prestigious Yetta and Bob Podgor Award for his participation in the Jewish Law Student Association.
When asked what motivated him to pursue a career representing injured individuals, Matt’s answer reflects the values that have defined his journey:
“There is nothing that excites me or motivates me more than helping others. I take great pride in being entrusted with the opportunity to help people at their lowest. Every action I take, I take knowing that what I do has the ability to help cure a wrong that has occurred, which motivates me to give my all every day.”
That commitment to service is one of the many reasons Matt has been such a natural fit at Barnes Trial Group. His practice focuses on personal injury litigation, including sexual assault injury cases, where compassion, dedication, and strong advocacy are essential.
Matt often credits the lessons he learned from his parents for shaping how he approaches client relationships. One principle that continues to guide him comes from a favorite Maya Angelou quote: “People will forget what you said, forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” He strives to bring that perspective into every interaction, recognizing that clients often come to him during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
Outside the office, Matt enjoys staying active through basketball, tennis, golf, hiking, beach trips, and spending time with family and friends. His diverse background and experiences working a variety of jobs throughout his life have helped shape the empathy and understanding he brings to his legal practice today.
Perhaps most exciting is what lies ahead. After more than a decade of working toward this goal, Matt is finally beginning the legal career he has envisioned since childhood. His enthusiasm for advocacy, commitment to clients, and dedication to the pursuit of justice make him a tremendous asset to our firm and the clients we serve.
Please join all of us at Barnes Trial Group in congratulating Matthew B. Rubin, Esquire, on this remarkable achievement. We are incredibly proud of what he has accomplished and look forward to watching him continue to grow as an attorney and advocate for years to come.
Congratulations, Matt! Welcome to the next chapter.
